Remodel Project Updates 1

Before Photos

Front View.  Note how high the chimney sticks up past the roof.

We spent weeks digging these yuccas out.

Fireplace with fake brick surround.

This used to be a screen porch that was closed up during the 60's.

Side window shoved all the way to the corner

I have no idea why they bumped the drywall out like that.

The bathroom used to have two windows before the family room was added on.

Front porch showing classic craftsman bungalow lines.

Kitchen showing pantry and what used to be the back door before the back popout was added.

1970's kitchen remodel

The beam was added in the '70s when the screen porch was removed.

It appears the basement was dug later.  Note the different posts.

This was the first time I saw rib lath and plaster used on an exterior.  There was no waterproofing behind it, and it did not hold up well, especially behind the concrete brick.

Two of the three palms that had to be removed.  I hate these things- tried to sell them, but no one wanted them.

Old electric panel that was upgraded in the '70's.

Water heater shed.  Notice the vent on top...

Rear view showing the flat-roofed family addition on the left.

Plumbing underneath was a mixture of galvanized, CPVC plastic, copper tubing, and black pipe (for water service!).

I had a house inspector look it over before we bought it.  His report is 38 pages long, and he took a ton of photos.  He's using the photos for training purposes now!
